About DR YASH GAWARIKAR
Meet Dr. Yash Gawarikar, the founder and director of the Canberra Region Neurology and Pain Centre. With extensive experience, he established the stroke service at Calvary Public Hospital in 2013 and served as its director until 2022. As a Visiting Medical Officer at Calvary Bruce Private Hospital, Dr. Gawarikar graduated from the University of Mumbai in 1999 before completing a postgraduate degree in Medicine. He pursued FRACP and neurology training in Newcastle and Canberra, including a Stroke Fellowship at John Hunter Hospital under global experts Professors Chris Levi and Mark Parsons. In 2014, Dr. Gawarikar initiated the Acute Stroke Unit and Service at Calvary Public Hospital and has maintained a private neurology practice since 2012 at Calvary Private. His specialties include Stroke, Parkinson's/Movement Disorders, Multiple Sclerosis, and other neurological conditions. Dr. Gawarikar is affiliated with prestigious neurological associations such as ANZAN, AAN, and WSO, actively participating in acute stroke research and clinical trials. Additionally, he serves as a Senior Clinical Lecturer in Neurology at ANU medical school, contributing to various training programs and curriculum development.
