Dr. Michael Schafer, MD, is one of the leading gastroenterologists in Omaha, NE, and has over 21 years of experience in the medical field. Dr. Schafer is a native of Omaha, Nebraska. He received his Biology Major at Gonzaga University, Spokane, Washington, in 1998 and his Medical Degree from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine, Omaha, Nebraska, in 2002. Dr. Schafer completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio, in 2005, with a Fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska, in 2008. He also completed a fourth-year Fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles, California, for advanced Interventional Endoscopy, Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), and Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS). Dr. Schafer is Board Certified in Gastroenterology and a member of the American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology, American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American Medical Association, and American College of Physicians – American Society of Internal Medicine.
