About MICHAEL LILYQUIST

Dr. Michael Lilyquist is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in treating injuries and musculoskeletal conditions related to the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder. Dr. Michael received his medical degree from the University of Utah and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Missouri. He completed his Hand and Upper Extremity fellowship at the State University of New York (SUNY) in Buffalo, New York. He is an expert in carpal tunnel syndrome, fractures of the hand, wrist, and elbow, as well as arthritis and total shoulder replacement. Dr. Lilyquist introduced joint replacement surgery for thumb arthritis to Reno and was the first to do so. He received direct training from the surgeon who designed the implant and has since been involved in training other surgeons in this technique. He offers thumb joint replacement surgery to provide patients with faster recovery and the ability to return to their activities more quickly compared to traditional surgery for thumb arthritis. Dr. Lilyquist is currently practicing at Swift Institute in Reno and Sparks. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine, where he guides medical residents and physician assistant students in their training. He warmly welcomes new patients at his office.
