About ROBERT F. HEARY

Dr. Robert F. Heary is an expert in performing neurosurgical spine surgeries and is one of the premier physicians in providing comprehensive spine care. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 1986 and completed a residency at UMDNJ. He is passionate about performing spinal cord injury research and deals with complicated neurosurgical problems. Dr. Heary completed an orthopaedic spine fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Heary recently served as the Vice President of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS). He also serves on several other nationally recognized boards and committees. He is the only neurosurgeon in the US who has been the President of both the Cervical Spine Research Society (CSRS) and the Lumbar Spine Research Society (LSRS). He has been the Chair of the AANS/CNS Joint Section on Disorders of the Spine & Peripheral Nerves. He has authored 165 peer-reviewed journal articles, over 100 abstracts, 70 book chapters, and his 4th textbook is being published in 2020. He has been on the faculty of over 300 instructional courses at national neurosurgery meetings. His academic credentials are indeed very strong.
