About SIMON WHARTON

Mr Simon Wharton has practised as a Consultant Plastic Reconstructive Surgeon since 2005. He obtained an Honours Degree in Anatomy and subsequently lectured at Southampton University. In 1988, he completed his MPhil at Southampton and later enrolled in Southampton Medical School. He held most of his junior doctor positions on the south coast, returning to Birmingham for his Senior Registrar (SPR) rotation in 1998. During this time, he pursued a fellowship in Vascular Anomalies at Boston Children’s Hospital in the USA. Since 2005, Mr. Wharton has been working as a consultant, with his tenure in Dudley beginning in late 2008. He has led skin cancer services on four occasions, dedicated 13 years to paediatric plastic surgery, and practised as the Medical Service Head for Plastic Surgery for nearly two years. Since 2010, he has played the role of an examiner for the plastic surgery intercollegiate examination; for three years, he held the position of secretary for the exam board. Presently, he practices as an assessor for the exam and is a member of the Specialist Advisory Committee for Plastic Surgery curriculum writing group.
