Dr. Thangamani Muthukumar is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York. He also serves as the Associate Director for the Nephrology Fellowship Program at the same institution. Dr. Muthukumar earned his medical degree from Madras Medical College in Chennai, India, and completed his residency in medicine and nephrology fellowship at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, India. Additionally, he holds a master's degree in clinical and translational investigation from the Weill Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences.His expertise lies in nephrology, hypertension, and transplantation medicine, with a special interest in kidney transplantation and kidney diseases in bone marrow and stem cell transplantation. Dr. Muthukumar has received training in nephrology in both India and the United States and was a research fellow in transplantation immunology at Cornell University. He actively conducts research on transplant rejection and biomarkers, with support from grants from the National Institutes of Health and the American Society of Transplantation.
