About WILLIAM L. O'NEILL
Meet Dr. William L. O'Neill, a highly experienced orthopedic surgeon based in Lexington, Kentucky. Dr. O'Neill earned his medical degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine in 1987 and subsequently completed his general surgery residency at the University of South Florida. He then went on to pursue a plastic surgery residency and a microsurgery fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, followed by a hand surgery fellowship from the Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery. With over 36 years of experience, Dr. O'Neill is affiliated with CHI-St Joseph East and Bluegrass Specialty Surgery Center. Notably, he served as the Chief of Hand Surgery at the VA Hospital until 1997 and played a significant role in the first two of three human hand transplants performed in the United States as part of a transplant team.
