Meet Dr. Zhi Xu, a highly experienced kidney specialist in Albuquerque with a strong background in Biochemistry and Medicine. Dr. Xu graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a B.S. in Biochemistry in 1998 and obtained his Doctor of Medicine from St. George's University in 2005. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Banner University Medical Center Phoenix and his Nephrology fellowship at the University of New Mexico, becoming board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine.Dr. Xu is an advocate for peritoneal dialysis (PD), a convenient home-based kidney treatment for patients with advanced kidney disease. As the Medical Director of the Home Dialysis program, he promotes the advantages of PD, such as enhanced well-being, independence, flexible lifestyle, less strict diet, and preservation of kidney function.
